The Douglas Educational Support Community (DESC) is a community of practice which supports all educators at Douglas College. DESC brings together faculty members from different disciplines, as well as individuals from various support services, to share their expertise and experiences in curriculum development and pedagogical practices. 

Here are some of the initiatives DESC is working on

  • Implementing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) into course design
  • Transitioning to Blackboard Ultra
  • Indigenizing and decolonizing our curriculum
  • Helping courses meet the targets outlined in the Accessible British Columbia Act
  • Assisting instructors with developing assessments measuring student growth and fostering academic integrity
